Insulators with rough and dirty surfaces provide an ideal base ofr the accumulation of airborne pollutants. In dry conditions, these deposits reduce insulating performance. In humid conditions, under the effects of condensation or when wet, a thin film of water can form, encouraging the crystallisation of salts. When there is a high concentration of salts combined with conductive solid particles, these deposits can have severe consequences for the integrity and performance of the insulators.
The SAKAPHEN SAEKA SÄKA 80 cleaning paste has been specifically designed to protect high-voltage insulators from electrical arcs caused by the accumulation of dust and atmospheric humidity. It ensures fast and safe cleaning of insulators, even on heavily soiled surfaces, while forming a durable hydrophobic silicone resin layer to seal the surface effectively. This protective film acts as a barrier, enhancing the operational safety of all types of insulators by preventing the formation of conductive water films. It increases the surface resistance of the insulators, reduces power losses on overhead lines, and ensures optimal performance. The film remains intact over time, does not dry out, and is resistant to UV exposure. This extends maintenance intervals and significantly lowers maintenance costs, making it a cost-effective and reliable solution for long-term insulator protection.
The SÄKA 80 cleaning paste has been carefully formulated so that a single surface treatment of insulators is sufficient to provide long-lasting protection. This solution has been successfully adopted by operators of power plants, steelworks, substations, railway lines, and industrial facilities for the reliable protection of insulators.
In highly humid or polluted environments, HVIC coating or SÄKA 81 silicone grease is recommended in combination with SÄKA 80 cleaning paste to significantly reduce the electrical permittivity of insulator surfaces. This combination ensures superior protection and long-term performance.
