PETRO-PLUG® : vertical filter for hydrocarbons and esters in pipelines

The PETRO-PLUG® range is composed of several filters of different sizes which, when water passes through them, retain all traces of hydrocarbons or esters. Fixed vertically in a pipe, the PETRO-PLUG® cartridge solidifies instantly in case of large petrol, diesel, oil leak and esters thus avoiding any environmental pollution.

Available in several diameters and lengths depending on the water flow rate required and in several references depending on the use and type of polluants (hydrocarbons, esters, oils).

How To Measure Your Bust

With your arms relaxed at your sides, measure around the fullest part of your chest.

How To Measure Your Waist

Measure around the narrowest part of your natural waist, generally around the belly button. To ensure a comfortable fit, keep one finger between the measuring tape and your body.

Description

Patented filtration system belonging to the technology SPI®, the PETRO-PLUG® range is the United Kingdom and European reference rainwater filter for hydrocarbons and esters contaminated waters in small retention volumes.

Made out of PVC to ensure better the resistance through time, the PETRO-PLUG® are the cartridges specially designed to fit easily on the pipes. They ensures the filtration of its drainage waters continuously, while trapping harmful hydrocarbons and natural esters: it prevents any soil pollution. The filtered flow rate is about 5l/min depending on the model and should be changed every 3 years.

The active media into the filter is a mix of different oleophilic and hydrophobic polymer components which trap definitely oils.
During a significant spill of hydrocarbons or esters, the components react and form a plug, preventing any fluid from discharging into the environment: the system is self-locking and works without mechanical parts, nor electrical connections. In all the cases tested, the oil concentration of the water at the filter outlet is less than 5 ppm.

Patented system, ideal for small manholes, easy to use and can be adapted to any pipe. Vertical use in the direction flow.

The pre-filtration box THPP is essential to limit the risk of fouling of the P-PLUG cartridges by the dust contained in the water.
For existing manhole cover, choose our STORM WATER range.

The only filter on the market recognized from more than 15 years by the biggest UK and European industry (Network rail, Balfour Beatty, ABB, SIEMENS, SCHNEIDER, etc.) and having passed successfully the test by independent laboratories such as Bureau Veritas or TUV with a hydrocarbons rate in output of the filter below 5 ppm.

Manufacturer

SPI® has been an Eastern American manufacturer based in Connecticut for 30 years. Bill Gannon founded SPI® in 1991 to develop a technology for solidifying polluting oils. His experience as Vice President of Liquid Waste Technologies from 1985 to 1991 and the Exxon Valdez disaster in 1989 were key elements in the creation of SPI®.

In the early years, SPI® focused on waste treatment by creating solidifiers for oils (Oil Bond) and for water (WaterBond). Then, in the years that followed, SPI® naturally turned to pollution prevention.

SPI® offers its patented PETRO-PIT®, PETRO-PLUG®, PETRO-PIPE® and PETRO-BARRIER® products to all customers who need to secure their retention equipment with a passive and inexpensive solution, thus allowing good drainage of rainwater without risk of overflow and therefore pollution.

No oil has ever drained from any SPI® filter. SPI® filters comply with American EPA SPCC standards, European and French standards on water treatment in light hydrocarbon separators as well as the water law (hydrocarbon content of water at the filter outlet less than 5 ppm , ICPE compliant). For three decades, thousands of installations have been protected by SPI® products in North America, Europe and Latin America. Its approval with the largest petrochemical industries, power companies and local authorities gives it an obvious strength to innovate in the filtration and solidification of new pollutants (natural esters FR3-COPPER, synthetic esters MIDEL7131) and find the solution for which you need.
